The new and upcoming GeForce 8800 GTS 512 on the other hand is said to be shipping in large quantities already, and when released in less than a week should be available at the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Even after two months of its initial launch the situation has not self-corrected.
Unfortunately this outstanding product has been crippled somewhat by its poor availability which also translated in retail prices that surpassed its intended range. The GeForce 8800 GT was the first card released using the G92 core revision and as we found out weeks ago it features superior performance that nears the grand daddy GTX at less than $300. The reason for this could be that Nvidia had nothing new to flog consumers with this Christmas, but more realistically they also felt some pressure in anticipation of what AMD had to offer in the form of the Radeon HD 3800 series. It does seem odd that just months before Nvidia is set to unleash their true next generation chips we have these newer GeForce 8 cards popping up. With less than a week before retailers start selling the new G92 version of the GeForce 8800 GTS, we are sure many of you are keen to see how this new graphics card performs. It's time to get started, next page if you please. You can officially skip the 320MB and 640 MB models as the all new GTS 512 MB model is based on the newer G92 based 65nm silicon, is almost as fast as a 768 GTX and is priced pretty darn competitive. cheaper than that 320MB model a 512MB GTS yet with 128 shader processors. If we merely look at the GTS models, we have the 320MB version with 96 shader processors, a 640 MB model with 96 processors, then there's the overclocked versions and now. Now I know, nothing is more confusing than NVIDIA's product line-up right now. It's the new GeForce 8800 GTS with 512MB of memory. Today NVIDIA is officially releasing a new graphics card based on the same G92 chip as that GT. Yes folks, that was only six weeks ago the point where silly season began. Hey, congratulations are in order as NVIDIA issued a card that day at mhhh 229-249 USD that offered heaps of performance. See, it was the day that NVIDIA released their GeForce 8800 GT, it was the day that all gamers had a smile on their faces after reading all these raving reviews.
